BEVERLY — Beverly C. (Rankin) Glidden, 76, a retired grade school teacher and educator in Wakefield, died Wednesday evening, July 5, in the comfort of her home. Beverly was on hospice care and had lost her battle to lung cancer.
Beverly was born in Lynn at the Union hospital on August 23, 1940, daughter of the late James Rankin and Dorothy (Thompson) Rankin. She was a longtime resident of Wakefield and for many years she was very active in the community.
Beverly loved crafts, woodworking, gardening, traveling, and especially learning and teaching. Beverly especially loved volunteering at the New England Aquarium in Boston.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Melrose.
Beverly was the wife of the late Richard A. Glidden. She was the mother of Brian R. Glidden and his wife Julie of Tewksbury and Peter A. Glidden and his wife Jill of Nashua, NH. She was the sister of Roger Rankin of CA and Virginia T Mooney (Rankin) of Derry, NH. She was the grandmother of William E. Glidden and Erin R. Glidden, both of Tewksbury, and Andrew P. Glidden and Renee M. Glidden both of Nashua, NH. Beverly is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial graveside memorial will be held at the Lakeside Cemetery, 501 North Ave., Wakefield on Thursday, July 13, at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
