MALDEN — Luigi “Mario” Bernardi of Malden died on Saturday, July 8.
Mr. Bernardi was born in Italy on July 5, 1927, and was raised there. He immigrated to the United States in 1955 and had been a resident of Malden since 1978.
He worked as a machinist at Walbar Incorporated in Peabody for many years.
Mario was also an avid gardener.
He was the beloved husband of Maria (Lucchesi) Bernardi. He was the father of Elena Vitale and her husband Peter of Wakefield. He was the grandfather of Peter A. Vitale and his wife Rachel of Danvers and Michael P. Vitale and his girlfriend Talita Machado of Wakefield.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Wednesday, July 12, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 10 a.m. Services will conclude with interment in Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the Mass on Wednesday only.
