BOSTON — On Feb. 14, eight members of the Lynnfield High boys’ indoor track and field team participated in the Division 5 State Meet at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.
Of the 75 schools participating, the Pioneers came in 18th place with 8.5 points. Littleton came in first with 56 points as only 38 schools scored points.
All of the team’s points came in the high jump as junior Eli Mendese came in fourth at 6’0” for five points while Ethan Francis also had a jump of 6’0” but needed more attempts as the senior placed sixth. Mendese received five points while Francis scored 3.5 points.
Dylan Reilly was 21st in the high jump at 5’06”.
Mendese just missed scoring again in the long jump as he was ninth at 19’09” while Francis placed 14th at 19’00.50”.
In the boys’ 4×200 relay, the team of Joe Cucciniello, Jessie Dorman, Charlie Morgan and Reilly captured 10th at 1:37.67.
This was one of the best performances in several years for the team under head coach Christine Smith.
Dorman and Mendese will be competing in the Pentathlon on March 1 back at the Reggie Lewis Center.
In the regular season, Lynnfield finished in second place behind Amesbury in the CAL Baker Division going 3-1.
