NORTH READING — With the arrival of the winter months, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Patrick Daly has announced the procedures followed by the North Reading Public Schools when it is necessary to either cancel school or enact a 90-minute delay due to inclement weather.

“With every pending storm I consult with our facilities team, the North Reading Public Works department, and other public safety officials to determine the best course of action for student and staff safety in the inclement weather,” Dr. Daly stated in an email announcement Monday.

“In addition to the local news channels we also post this information on our district website, share on X (formerly Twitter) @nrschools, and send a message via Blackboard Connect. The Blackboard Messages will go to the email and phone/SMS numbers that we have on file,” he added.

Parents and caregivers who would like to receive emergency cancellation and delay messages automatically whose preferred phone number or email has recently changed are advised to contact their school building administration to update the information on file.
