Worked for Brudnick Medical Supplies

Schwarzer-obit-webMALDEN — Charles W. Schwarzer, Jr., 73, a longtime resident of Malden, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 9 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

Charles was born in Everett on December 30, 1941, and was one of two children of the late Lorene E. Schwarzer and Charles W. Schwarzer. He graduated from Melrose High School and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He met his future wife, Jean, at Nelson’s Bakery in Malden, and two months later they were married. Charley worked as a supervisor for Brudnick Medical Supplies in Malden for 30 years.

A sociable and friendly man, Charley enjoyed a good joke at his own expense as much as he enjoyed teasing his friends and family. Charley’s needs in life were simple and as long as he was with Jean, he was happy. They did everything together including going out to eat at many local restaurants, playing gin rummy, sitting in the sun at Lake Quannapowitt, or visiting Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. He will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

Charley was the beloved husband of 38 years to Jean (Chase) Schwarzer. He was the dear brother of the late Lorene E. Scoboria; and brother-in-law of Janet Palermo of North Chelmsford, William Chase of Portsmouth, New Hampshire and Joan Barthelmes of Malden. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Charley’s funeral service was held at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Thursday, May 14. For directions or online tribute visit RobinsonFuneralHome.com.
