WAKEFIELD — John V. Farrell, 89, of Wakefield died on Thursday, July 30, at his residence.
Born in Somerville on March 28, 1926 he was the son of the late Louis and Mary (Sullivan) Farrell.
Mr. Farrell was a graduate of St. Clement High School in Somerville. He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
Mr. Farrell was retired from Akers Motor Line in South Boston and was the owner of Farrell Wallpaper and Painting. He was a member of the Wakefield V.F.W. and the Local 25 Teamsters Union.
He was the husband of the late Lillian M. (Mitchell) Farrell. Mr. Farrell is survived by his three daughters: Amy Farrell Cook of Wakefield, Jean Young and her husband Richard of Oakland, Maine and Kathy Kenneally and her husband Joseph of South Dakota, and his sister Mary Farrell of Lynn. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Farrell was predeceased by his brother Richard Farrell and his two sisters Lillian Ryan and Roseann Hackett.
His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield at 10 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
