MELROSE — Victoria L. (Magliocca) Parisi, 91, of Melrose, passed away on Aug. 21 surrounded by her loving family.
Victoria was born in Italy and came to the United States when she was 12. She moved with her husband, the late Louis C. Parisi, and their seven children to Melrose in 1960. Motherhood was her crowning achievement, lovingly raising her children Charles Parisi (Newfoundland, Canada), Linda Hendriks (Wakefield), Sandra Dahl (Florida), Lisa Parisi (Florida), Joan Wilcox (North Carolina), Mark Parisi (Westford) and Judith Colborne (Melrose). She was a second mother to her sons-in-law John Dahl, Peter Hendriks and Scott Colborne and daughters-in-law Theda Parisi and Laura Parisi. She doted on her nine grandchildren: John Marshall, John and Nicole Parisi, Rod Dahl, Lisa Phillips, Kristin and Nicholas Parisi and Brian and Jessica Colborne and her four great-grandchildren.
Victoria was a fantastic cook, who took pleasure in preparing meals for family and friends. The Parisi house was always the center of activity, overflowing with children and their friends. Victoria worked for many years at Cerretani’s and Shaw’s Supermarkets. She liked to bowl and read and was an avid walker.
Visitation was on Tuesday, Aug. 25, at Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., in Melrose from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at St. Mary Church, Herbert Street, Melrose at 11 a.m. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org. To leave an online condolence and for additional information please visit gatelyfh.com.
