WALTHAM—The Melrose High boy’s swim team had a very nice finish at the 2024 Middlesex League with a standout swimmer earning two league championships, and plenty of medals collected overall.

Melrose sophomore Jos Baranyi because a two time league champ in two events, the 100 free and 50 free. His times in each event (51.85 and 23.02) bested him closest opponents from Belmont and Reading.

It was also a great day for Melrose’s talented 200 medley team, who earned silver with a time of 1:48.81, thanks to the work of Gabe Hunnicutt, Ben Terentiyev, Owen Molway and Jos Baranyi.

Terentiyev also landed on the podium with a second place finish in the 100 breast and third place finish in the 200 IM.

Melrose’s 200 free relay team also finished well, earning a medal with a 4th place finish behind the work of Terentiyev, Baranyi, William Lowe, and Gabe Hunnicutt.

Melrose was well represented in distance events and swimmer William Lowe earned medals by placing 4th in the 200 free and in 5th in the 500 free.
