MELROSE — Barbara A. Martel, 93, formerly of Vero Palm Estates, Vero Beach, Fla., died Wednesday, Sept. 30, at Pruitt Health Care in New Bern, N.C.
She was born Dec. 7, 1921 in Windsor, Vt., the daughter of the late Edward Earl Sr. and Willa Dale Stickney Holden. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry W. Martel. She is survived by a son, Ronald Martel and wife, Charlene of Aiken, S.C. two daughters, Dale Perrine and her husband, Dale of New Bern, N.C. and Deborah Crimins and husband, Neil of Meredith, N.H. She is also survived by a sister, Eloise G. Howard of Murphy, N.C. and the late Edward E. Holden Jr., Sun City, Ariz. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Kristi (Luke), Kate (Dan), Bill (Amber), Ben (Hilary), Nicole, John, Neil Jr. and Jonathan, and four great-grandchildren, Maggie, Reagan, Haley and Caleb.
Visitation was held on Monday, Oct. 5 at the Gately Funeral Home 79 West Foster St., Melrose. A funeral Service took place on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at the Gately Funeral Home. Interment at Wyoming Cemetery, 205 Sylvan St., Melrose. To leave an online condolence, visit gatelyfh.com.
