AS WE OBSERVE the sacrifices made by American service personnel this Memorial Day let us not forget that 1,576 Americans who served during the Vietnam War remain listed by the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) as missing and unaccounted-for: Vietnam – 1,237; Laos – 284; Cambodia – 48; Peoples Republic of China territorial waters – 7. Thankfully, there has been closure for one more airman’s family. The National League of POW/MIA Families reported on April, 24, 2024 that U.S. Air Force Maj. John C.G. Kerr, 35, was accounted for by DPAA. He was reported missing on Aug. 22, 1967 while piloting an A-26A Invader attack aircraft on a solo armed reconnaissance mission over the Plain of Jars, Laos. The Vietnam War ended 49 years ago on April 30, 1975. It’s long past time to make it a priority to bring all of our boys home.
