MELROSE — Francis P. Griffin passed away on July 16 at the age of 66. Frank was born on June 28, 1958 to the late Francis P. and Bridget (Gill) Griffin. He is survived by his children Francis Griffin, Jr. and Kerri Griffin and his two granddaughters Stella and Cali. He was a beloved brother to Michael Dorman of Burlington; Marianne Lane of Antrim, NH; Kathleen (David) Lane of Gloucester; David Griffin of Melrose; Patricia (Mike) Nocella of Gloucester; and his sisters-in-law Mary Dorman of Medford and Donna Griffin of Wilmington. Frank was a devoted uncle to many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Roy Dorman and his sister Debra Griffin.
Frank was proud of growing up in the Somerville projects before moving to Melrose in 1972. He spent the major part of his life living in Abington where he raised his son. He worked at the Quincy shipyard for several years before joining the Carpenters Union 33. He also spent several years as a private investigator which he enjoyed immensely. Frank will be greatly missed but his stories and adventures will continue to be shared for countless years to come.
Visiting hours were held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Wednesday, July 24 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 12 p.m. Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend.
