WAKEFIELD — On Sunday, August 4, the Safe Streets Working Group will be hosting an Open Streets Sunday event. From 1 to 5 p.m. the lake area will have expanded access for walkers, rollers, runners and strollers. Portions of Main and Church Sts. will be closed to motor vehicles and a bike rodeo will be set up on Church St. for guests to learn more about safe biking. Wakefield’s Quench Buggy refill station will be there, so don’t forget your reusable water bottle.

Commuters, please take note of the following: Church St. between Main St. and Common St. will be closed to motor vehicle traffic. Motor vehicle traffic approaching Common from North Ave. can still make a right-hand turn onto Common to continue driving past Town Hall and both lanes of Main St. will remain open for the duration of the event with a designated bicycle lane marked by orange barrels on the westerly side of Main St. between Lowell St. and Church St.
