MELROSE — Chief Kevin Faller and the men and women of the Melrose Police Department invite community members to attend the Department’s free National Night Out event next week on Tuesday, August 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Cabbage Patch Field, Melrose Middle School, 350 Lynn Fells Parkway.

National Night Out is held annually on the first Tuesday in August. It is a nationwide campaign designed to strengthen the relationship between public safety officials and residents to foster community partnerships and improve safety in neighborhoods.

This year marks the 41st anniversary of National Night Out. This family-friendly event will give residents the opportunity to come together as a community and interact with local law enforcement. The event will feature food trucks, games, music and activities like a dunk tank, an obstacle course, a bouncy house, face painting, touch a truck and K-9 demonstrations. There will also be a special visit from the Boston Bruins mascot Blades.

“National Night Out provides a great opportunity to meet your local law enforcement officers and to get to know those who protect your community,” said Chief Faller. “I hope many residents can join us for a fun night, get to know us a little better and just enjoy an overall great community event.”
