NORTH READING — Chief Mark Zimmerman and the Community Impact Team invite residents to attend the North Reading Police Department’s free and 9th Annual National Night Out event next Tuesday, August 6 from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at Ipswich River Park, 15 Central St.
National Night Out is held annually on the first Tuesday in August. It is a nationwide campaign designed to strengthen the relationship between public safety officials and residents, to foster community partnerships and improve safety in neighborhoods.
This year marks the 41st anniversary of National Night Out, and the 9th annual celebration of the event by the North Reading Police Department.
The North Reading National Night Out will give residents the opportunity to come together as a community and interact with local law enforcement. Featuring activities for all age groups, the event includes free raffles, a free barbecue, vehicle and equipment displays, activities such as face painting and a bounce house, and information workshops on everything from substance abuse to scam protection and disaster preparation.
“National Night Out is our way of showing the community who we are and what we do,” Chief Zimmerman said. “Don’t be a stranger. Come down to the park next week, touch a truck, and get to know your local North Reading police officer.”
