LYNNFIELD — Based on recent water testing by the State Department of Public Health, the town lifted the Public Health Advisory for the harmful algae bloom at Pillings Pond on Aug. 28.

The State Department of Public Health was notified  about a positive test for harmful algal bloom at Pillings Pond in late June. Health Director Coral Hope and Planning and Conservation Director Emilie Cademartori monitored the algae bloom. Algae blooms are a seasonal issue at the pond, and the combination of high temperatures and lack of rainfall exacerbated the problem.

The Conservation Commission has treating the pond for algae blooms, but was unable to do so this summer because of the Public Health Advisory. With the public health advisory lifted, the commission began treating the pond once again on Aug. 30.
