LYNNFIELD — The Lynnfield High boys’ cross country team improved to 3-0 with an 18-41 win over Ipswich in the home opener on Sept. 25.

“On paper, this looked like it was going to be a really close meet but the boys stepped up,” said head coach Bill Wallace. “This was the biggest win for the team so far this year.”

Senior captain Shea McCarthy led the way once again with an overall 1st place time of 16:26.

The Pioneers also took 2nd through 4th overall to seal the win. Junior captain Dylan Nguyen was 2nd overall in 17:05, junior Nick DeGennaro was 3rd in 17:49 and sophomore Liam Gardner was 4th in 17:58. Senior captain Ashkrit Mahajan was 8th overall in 18:29.

Lynnfield will look to keep it going on Wednesday when they host Georgetown at 3:30 p.m.
