WOBURN — The Wakefield High boys’ cross country team made a notable impact at the Middlesex League Conference Championship held this Monday at the Woburn Country Club.

In the varsity race, the Warriors secured a commendable 4th place finish. They finished behind Lexington, Reading, and Arlington, all Liberty Division schools ranked in the top 10 in the Division 1 state rankings. Senior Brandon Nett led all Warriors with a major personal best time of 15:48 for 11th overall, followed closely by his brother Andrew Nett, who finished 13th with a personal best time of 15:52.  

Junior Devin DeBeradinis had a breakout race, crossing the line in 20th and earning a medal in 16:03, a 40 second personal best. 

Additional strong contributions came from Jacob Ciriello in 30th place with a time of 16:24, junior Max Viselli in 31st running 16:28, sophomore Alec Buonopane-Cohen in 37th at 16:38, and George Palmer in 38th with a time of 16:40, all personal bests.

The junior varsity team also showcased their strength, earning a 4th place finish. Ty Galante stood out with an 18th place finish at 17:17, while Marcello Caruso finished 23rd with a time of 17:35. The team’s depth was highlighted by sophomore Evan Buonopane-Cohen in 32nd place at 18:03, junior Ryan Paige in 41st in 18:18, sophomore Sean Marra in 43rd in 18:23 and sophomore Zach Richardson in 44th at 18:24. 

Other notable finishes included David Rocca in 52nd (18:33), Taylor Miller in 61st (18:49), Brendan Pritchard in 65th (18:55), Zach Davidson in 74th (19:29), Brody Wyatt in 78th (19:32), Ben Olivieri in 84th (19:44), William Iudice in 89th (19:54), Ben Hickey in 94th (20:05), Ethan Caldo in 101st (20:18), Edward Palmer in 123rd (21:12), Alex Riggs in 138th (21:47), AJ Kretas in 169th (24:20), Jonathan Zhang in 171st (24:33), Adam Levy in 174th (24:55) and Amari Brown in 184th (31:08).

In the freshman race, the team competed with strong performances. Noah Morrisseau led the way, finishing 10th overall with a time of 10:43 to earn a medal, followed by Max Levine in 17th at 10:59 and Grant Jefferson in 31st at 11:27. Other finishers included Jack Ellis in 70th (12:55), Nathaniel Chines in 71st (12:58), Aaron Zhang in 83rd (14:16), Ryan Wollner in 89th (15:44) and Max Steventon in 92nd (18:04).

The Warriors now prepare for the State Championships held in less than two weeks.
