Donna-Geehan-obit-webLAKELAND, Fla. — Donna Mae (Ricker) Geehan passed away at her home in Lakeland, Fla. on Nov. 25. She was only 68 years of age.

Donna was born in Melrose on Dec. 19, 1946 to the late Laurence and Nora (DiNardi) Ricker. She was raised in Melrose and graduated from St. Mary Grammar and St. Mary High School, Class of 1964. Mrs. Geehan was a lifelong resident of Melrose before moving to Florida 11 years ago.

Donna worked as a secretary for the federal government in the Office of Currency Control for 37 years. She and her husband, John, enjoyed taking trips to Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut and the Hard Rock Casino in Florida and loved taking cruises to the Caribbean on the Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. Donna was an avid reader and was known for reading a book in a day. Mrs. Geehan was also a very caring person and would do anything for anyone in need.

Mrs. Geehan was the beloved wife of 48 years to John J. Geehan. She was the loving sister of Laurence Ricker of Maine and Sandra Atkinson and her husband Gary of New Hampshire. She was the caring sister-in-law of Patrick, Sheila, Eileen, Bridget, Alice Hall and Mary Wagner, all of Melrose; Margaret Geehan of Florida; James Geehan of Vermont; Monica and Paul Marcotte of New Hampshire and the late Pauline Geehan and Kathleen Geehan. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and a great-great-niece.

Visitation was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St. Melrose, on Tuesday, Dec. 1, followed by a funeral service. Interment followed at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. To send a message of condolence, visit www.gatelyfh.com.
