WINCHESTER — Richard S. “Dick” Kelley, 76, of Winchester, died on Feb. 14, 2016, after being lovingly cared for by his family at home. He was the beloved husband of Amy L. (Stackpole) Kelley.
Born in Woburn, he was the son of the late William V. and Marian (Tessier) Kelley. Dick was raised in Woburn and graduated Woburn High School with the class of 1957, where he excelled at track and began his training in photography. He received his associate’s degree at Malden Business School and worked at Wynn Watch Hand. He served honorably in the U.S. Army in Germany, where he continued his training in photography.
In 1967 he opened Kelley of Winchester Photography, specializing in wedding photography. Working with his wife Amy, he photographed the weddings, portraits and events of many families from the area. He also served as a constable in Woburn and Winchester since 1987.
Dick was well known and loved around town. In his spare time, he enjoyed Saturday morning coffee with friends at the Winchester Cooperative Bank, membership in the Winchester Knights of Columbus, the Winchester VFW and the CC Club. He was also a founding member of the WRA.
In addition to his loving wife Amy, he is survived by his children Stephanie Kelley-Romano, Ph.D., of Auburn, Maine and Margaret “Meg” Kelley and her partner Kevin Doherty of Middleton. He adored his grandchildren Amy Marie Kelley of Los Angeles, Calif., George F. Romano III and Richard S. Romano, both of Auburn, Maine. Dick was the dear brother of Judith Ann DeCourcey of Wakefield. He was predeceased by two brothers William V. Kelley Jr. and Thomas H. “Tucker” Kelley. He is survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews, all of whom loved him very much.
A funeral service will be held in the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Saturday, Feb. 20 at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment is private.
