MALDEN — Margaret S. “Peggy” (Deady) Looney of Malden died on May 7 surrounded by her family.
Peggy was born in Medford on Feb. 12, 1943 to Walter and Anna (Gilmartin) Deady. She was born and raised in Medford and attended Medford schools.
Peggy raised her five children in Malden and was always there for her children. She loved to go shopping and spend time with her family. Peggy lived in Lady Lake, Fla. for 18 years. She was very active during her time in Florida and also played in a softball league. Peggy will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege to know her.
She was the wife of the late Edward Looney. She was devoted mother of Thomas Looney and his wife Sandra of Medford, Kerri Perry and her husband Mark of Malden, Donna Looney and her companion Richard Doherty of Malden, Erin Smigliani and her husband Alex of Malden and the late Joseph Looney. She was the loving grandmother of Vanessa, John, Laureen, Nicole, Christine, Thomas Jr., Devin, Joseph Jr., Dennis, Joelle, Matthew, Domenic and the late Michelle. She was the proud great-grandmother of Cali, Mackenzie, Angelina, Justin, Elizabeth, Madelyn, Samantha, Anthony, Benjamin and the late Jace.
Visiting hours were held on Wednesday, May 11, from 4-8 p.m. at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home on Thursday, May 12, at 9 a.m., followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Hearts Church, 315 Main St., Malden. Interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
