MELROSE — The Melrose School Committee will hold a presentation and public inquiry session on the configuration of instructional programs in response to the identified need for additional classroom space for the growing elementary school population.

In other words, administrators are thinking about moving fifth graders to the middle school and eighth graders to Melrose High.

The meeting will take place on Tuesday, May 31 from 7-9 p.m. in the Melrose City Hall Aldermanic Chambers.

Superintendent Cyndy Taymore will present a review of current challenges and potential options, after which the committee will hear questions and comments from the community. This meeting will take place prior to the committee’s decision on the administration’s proposal, anticipated for a preliminary vote on June 28.

The community is invited to send questions and comments in advance to schoolcommittee@cityofmelrose.org and may also ask questions at the session as time permits.
