Boston Edison retiree was dedicated member of St. Joseph Church

WAKEFIELD — Daniel P. Lovett of Wakefield passed away on Monday, Aug. 1, just shy of his 82nd birthday.
He was born in Aug. 29, 1934 to the late Patrick and Julia (Sullivan) Lovett.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 56 years, Rita (Edmands) and their two daughters Rita Kelli Dengate and her husband Eugene of Wilmington, N.C. and Lauri A. Walker and her husband Michael of Wakefield. He was the cherished grandfather of Jordan Walker, Jillian and Gavin Dengate.
Dan grew up in Dorchester to a family of 10 children. He is survived by four sisters: Margaret “Peggy” Losi of Falmouth, Julia O’Donnell of Braintree, Ann LaFlamme of Hanover and Joan Lovett of Braintree. He is predeceased by his brothers: Thomas, Charles and Patrick; and sisters Eileen and Mary. He was also the brother-in-law of Margaret Gibbons and her husband John of North Kingstown, R.I., June Pizzano and her husband Lawrence of Wakefield and the late Francis Edmands, William Edmands, Mary Theresa Ledoux, Gladys Rice and Agnes Jones. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dan served in the military with the Massachusetts Army National Guard and spent his working career with the Boston Edison Company where he met his wife Rita in 1957 and retired as Collections Supervisor in 1992.
He was a dedicated and active member of St. Joseph Church, Wakefield Knights of Columbus and St. Vincent de Paul Society.
He is the Past Grand Knight of the Wakefield Knights of Columbus, served as a member and “Faithful Navigator” of the Saint Pius, X Assembly, Fourth Degree, Knights of Columbus.
Funeral from the McDonald Funeral Home,19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Lakeside Cemetery. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.
