WAKEFIELD — Beatrice L. Byrnes, 90, of Wakefield died on Sunday, Aug. 28 at the Beaumont Nursing Center in Westborough.

Born in Portland, Maine she was the daughter of the late Charles and Bessie (Cook) Seavey.

Mrs. Byrnes grew up in Wakefield and was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1944. She organized all the class reunions and had taught kindergarten at the Tall Spire, First Baptist Church in Wakefield for many years. For most of her career, Mrs. Byrnes worked as an office administrator at various companies including AT&T, LB Evans Shoe Company and the Wakefield Town Clerk’s Office. She was devoted to her church and spent a lot of time volunteering. Mrs. Byrnes loved to knit things for her family and had also loved to read and travel.

She is survived by her five children; Donna Byrnes of St. Louis, Mo.; Alan Byrnes of Olympia, Wash.; David Byrnes of Honolulu, Hawaii; Karen Pike and her husband Donald of Wakefield and Laura Ellis and her husband Ronald of Northborough and her 10 grandchildren Erik, Zachary, Austin, Adam, Daniel, Andrea, Sean, Derek, Emily and Jeff and her three great-grandchildren; JJ., Kaylee and Patrick. Mrs. Byrnes was predeceased by her four brothers Murray Seavey, Ted Seavey, Charles Seavey, Walter Seavey and her sister Ruth Seavey.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday at the First Baptist Church, 8 Lafayette St., Wakefield at 11 a.m. A private family interment was held at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
