Sweezeyobit-webLOWELL — Michael James Sweezey, 45, of Lowell and formerly of Wakefield, died Saturday, Oct. 15.

Born in Saugus on May 7, 1971, he was the son of Barbara J. (Foley) Sweezey of Londonderry, N.H. and Joseph D. Sweezey and his wife Carmen of Penacook, N.H.

Michael was raised in Wakefield and was a graduate of Wakefield Memorial High School, Class of 1989. He also attended Salem State College and Hesser College.

He had most recently worked as the Shipping and Receiving supervisor at Specialty Materials in Lowell. Michael was a friend to everyone and will be remembered for his quick wit, magical sense of humor and his love of sports, especially fishing. He also loved to cook, enjoyed New England sports, as well as NASCAR.

In addition to his parents, Michael is survived by his children: Jordon Rose Sweezey and J. Marit Sweezey, both of Lowell; his brothers: Christopher D. Sweezey of New Hampshire and Douglas M. Sweezey and his wife Ann Marie of Dracut; his aunts Eva Cincotta, Rosemarie Staccia, Annmarie Frattaroli and Nancy Bruno, and uncle Stephen McDermod. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Shelly (Pearlswig) Sweezey; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother Peter J. Sweezey.

Visitation for relatives and friends at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
