Skate under the stars and help a family in need

Pioneers with a Purpose fundraiser Jan. 30

LYNNFIELD — Join Pioneers with a Purpose for a night of skating under the stars at the MarketStreet rink while benefiting a family who lost all their possessions in a recent fire.

During the event on Monday, Jan. 30 from 4 to 9 p.m., MarketStreet will donate $2 back for every paying skater who presents a flyer from the group (available for downloading from the Villager’s Facebook page). Originally slated for this past Monday night, the fundraiser was postponed due to inclement weather.

Pioneers with a Purpose is comprised of 22 Lynnfield families and 47 elementary-aged students who partner with local non-profits and create a volunteering and fund-raising plan. This fundraiser will benefit a fellow student who attends Huckleberry Hill School through the METCO program and his family.

This is the group’s second fundraiser. The group is actively pursuing volunteering opportunities for the upcoming year which are appropriate for elementary-age children and welcomes suggestions.
