Vietnam veteran was DPW mechanic

METHUEN — Edward G. Sarafian, 67, of Methuen and formerly of Wakefield, died on Monday, February 6, at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford.
Born in Somerville on January 4, 1950, he was the son of late Albert D. and Barbara (Kenney) Sarafian.
Ed was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1968. He was a retired heavy machine mechanic for the Town of Wakefield.
Mr. Sarafian had been a Methuen resident since 2002.
He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the United States Marine Corps. Ed was a member of the Malden Moose, Wakefield Sons of Italy and the Wakefield VFW.
Mr. Sarafian is survived by his wife Rita L. (Harriman) Sarafian; his son Jason Whitner of Texas; his two daughters, Kasey Sarafian of Methuen and Deena Sarafian of North Andover; his brother Steven Sarafian of Florida. and his three sisters, Ellen Miele of Lynnfield, Judy Sarafian of Methuen and Jean Gullage of Wakefield. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren. Mr. Sarafian was predeceased by his brother Albert Sarafian.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
A graveside service will be held at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield on Friday at 10 a.m.
