PEABODY — Helen Jensen Butcher, 100, of Peabody formerly of Lynnfield, died on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the Brooksby Village in Peabody.
Born in Little Falls, Minnesota on July 19, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Helen M. (Gilmore) Jensen.
Mrs. Butcher was a graduate of Little Falls High School, Class of 1933 and Macalester College and the University of Minnesota. She was a retired kindergarten teacher at Tower Day at the Centre Congregational Church in Lynnfield. Mrs. Butcher had been a Lynnfield resident since 1956 and a Peabody resident since 2001.
She was the wife of the late James A. Butcher. Mrs. Butcher is survived by her daughter, Janet Pikula and her husband Robert of Glastonbury, Conn., and her two sons, William Butcher and his wife Gale of Brewster and David Butcher his wife Natalie of Newnan, Georgia. She is also survived her five grandchildren, Robin Kohs (Michael) of Portland, Conn., Michael Pikula (Sarah) of Suffield, Conn., Katie Branchetti (Chris) of Warrenton, Virginia, Andrew Butcher of Newnan, Georgia and Amanda Butcher of Astoria Queens, N.Y. as well as her six great-grandchildren; Sarah, Stephen and Lauren Kohs, Connor and Chase Pikula and Micah Branchetti.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
