STONEHAM — Kathleen (Buckley) Murphy, 95, passed away at Bear Hill Nursing Center in Stoneham on February 28, 2017.
Kathleen was born in Malden on June 29, 1921 to the late Francis and Mary (Lyons) Buckley. She was raised in Malden, where she went to the Chevrus School and Malden High School. Kathleen has been a resident of Melrose for over 30 years. Mrs. Murphy was a homemaker who loved to do crossword puzzles. She was a voracious reader; enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune; and was very proud of her Irish heritage. Kathleen also enjoyed spending summers in Alton Bay New Hampshire, but most of all her family was first and foremost in her life.
Mrs. Murphy was the beloved wife of the late Robert H. Murphy. She was the beloved mother of Kathleen L. Cadavid and her husband Emilio of Vero Beach, Florida; and Karen E. Boml and her husband Helmut of Hudson, New Hampshire. She was the beloved grandmother of Marybeth Madigan and her husband Jim; David and Derek Guthro; Gretchen Lordan and her husband Matthew; Brigitte Charette and her husband Gary; and Erika Boml. She was the beloved great grandmother of Nathaniel and Owen; Samantha, Kathleen and Erin; Meghan and Molly. She was the loving sister of the late Vincent, Francis and Lawrence Buckley. She is also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins, grand nieces, grand nephews and friends.
Visitation was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose, on Tuesday, March 7, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church, Herbert St. Melrose. Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
