Twenty Melrose residents participated in last weekend’s 2017 Pan-Mass Challenge. Founded in 1980, the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) is an annual bike-a-thon across Massachusetts that today raises more money for charity than any other single event in the country.

The PMC donates 100 percent of every rider-raised dollar to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The PMC combines support from cyclists, volunteers, corporate sponsors and individual contributors. Their mission is “to attain maximum fundraising efficiency while increasing its annual gift. Our hope and aspiration is to provide Dana-Farber’s doctors and researchers with the necessary resources to discover cures for all cancers.”

The PMC, which raised 46 million dollars last year, is still accepting donations for this year’s ride. Visit www.pmc.org for more information.
