MALDEN — Margaret L. Dineen, 94, passed away at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on June 2, 2018.
She was born in Malden to the late William and Margaret (Newcombe) Dineen on January 21, 1924. She was raised in Malden, graduated from the Chevrus School and Malden Business School. Miss Dineen served her country with pride in the WAC (Women’s Army Corps) during WWII. She was a lifelong resident of Malden and worked in administration for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts at the State House for over 40 years.
Margaret enjoyed reading and baking, loved old movies, especially John Wayne, the holidays and had a very strong faith and was a devoted Catholic. Miss Dineen cherished her family most of all, doing Friday night family nights, taking tremendous care of all her family members and loved to spoil all her nieces and nephews and extended family. Margaret enjoyed her trip to Hawaii and loved traveling all over New England. She also was a very generous person, supporting numerous charities throughout her life.
Miss Dineen was the devoted sister of the late John Dineen, Irene Antonangeli and Katherine and William Dineen. Loving aunt of James Antonangeli and his wife Mary, Paula Antonangeli, all of Malden, Mark Antonangeli and his wife Cyndi, Lisa Foucher and her husband Don, all of Melrose and Keith Antonangeli of Malden and the late Carl D. Antonangeli. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, relatives and friends.
Visiting hours were held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Wednesday, June 6. Procession from the Gately Funeral Home on Thursday, June 7, was followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, 9 Herbert St., Melrose.
