MELROSE — Isabelle J. (Longo) Adinolfi, 86, a lifelong resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.
Born on March 17, 1932 in Melrose, Isabelle was raised in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School. She attended beauty school in Boston, and became a hairdresser at Chatelein’s on Franklin Street in Melrose. After being introduced to Thomas F. Adinolfi by a customer, she fell in love and they were married on October 15, 1961. They have lived in Melrose since and have shared nearly 60 years of loving friendship and deep dedication.
In 1963. Isabelle and Tom bought a home on Damon Ave. in Melrose with a separate entrance for Isabelle’s Beauty Salon. Isabelle worked her magic beautifying her family, friends and neighbors whom she had as customers. Isabelle was a strong, yet very caring and nurturing woman who always wanted to take care of people.
Isabelle centered her life around her home, her family, and her marriage to Tom. She was happiest when she was able to do something nice for someone in her family, or her friends and neighbors. She shared her love of cooking, and baking with those around her, and always had something in the oven for someone. She loved entertaining and cooking for her family for many holidays and parties. A warm and gentle presence, Isabelle had a way with children, and provided loving support to all. She had a heart of gold and was truly one of a kind.
Isabelle was a wonderful and deeply devoted wife to Tom who was always by her side. With mutual admiration and love, Isabelle and Tom cherished every moment they had together. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and her love for Tom and her family will carry on in their hearts.
Isabelle was the beloved wife and best friend to Thomas F. Adinolfi with whom she shared 60 years of dedication and true love. Devoted daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Camelia) Longo. Sister of Genevieve DiCarlo and her late husband Alfred, and the late Anthony Longo and his late wife Helen, the late Margaret Tierney and her late husband Ralph, the late Anne DiCarlo and her late husband Victor, and the late Beatrice Longo. Caring sister-in-law of Rocco Adinolfi of Fla., Florence Angelo of Lynnfield, and Mary Hallisey of Maine. Daughter-in-law of the late Nicholas and Josephine Adinolfi. Also survived by many devoted nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Relatives and friends gathered in honor and remembrance of Isabelle’s life during visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Wednesday, June 20, and again on Thursday before leaving in procession to Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield for her funeral Mass.
