NORTH READING — Due to the unpredictable weather forecast calling for afternoon thunderstorms both Wednesday and Thursday this week, Parks & Rec postponed its weekly Summer Concert, BBQ and children’s show previously slated for July 25 or 26.
The new date of the BBQ and concert, featuring the Curious Creatures live animal show for children at 5:15 p.m., followed by the classic rock band RipCord at 6:15 p.m., is Wednesday, August 15.
The BBQs and concerts run from 5 p.m. to dusk and the cost is $3 per carload to support the park.
Ipswich River Park is located at 15 Central St. The BBQ features a la carte food cooked to order. Guests can also bring a picnic dinner and don’t forget a comfy chair or blanket.

Remaining concerts
The remaining concerts and children’s shows will run as scheduled (weather permitting, of course. Rain dates are ordinarily the next day).
Those dates are:
• Wednesday, August 1 featuring Rick’s Puppets at 5:15 p.m. and the classic music of Cool Change from the 1960s to today at 6:15 p.m.
• Wednesday, August 8 featuring Henry the Juggler at 5:15 p.m. and the rhythm and blue sounds of the Rico Barr Band at 6:15 p.m.
Senior citizens who would like a ride to the BBQ may call the Senior Center at 978-664-5600. The rides are offered free of charge thanks to the sponsorship of LJR Engineering.
The Reading Cooperative Bank is the exclusive children’s entertainment sponsor each week. The bands are sponsored by different local businesses each week. RipCord is sponsored by Park Street Veterinary Clinic; Cool Change is sponsored by PDA Dental Group and Rico Barr Band is sponsored by Teradyne, Inc.
Earlier concert sponsors of this year’s summer series were: A Class Act Limousine Inc. (The Redeemers), Classified Realty Group (Annie Brobst Band) and Farrelly Realty Group (4EverFab).
