MELROSE—The Melrose Youth Softball 14U team recently wrapped up a stellar summer season by going 13-1 and capturing the 2018 MiddleEssex 14B Championship.

The team was led by the solid pitching of Julia Kruse, Elaine Albuja and Itaia Figuera.

The Red Raider batting attack was spearheaded by Ella Brennan, Kate Sikkema, Catherine Curry and Kalina Piasecki. They also received timely, game winning contributions from Ellie Ferris, Matia Kaliris and Ava Gesnaldo.

Defense and baserunning were the team’s strengths with Madison Tobin, Ava Burns, Hannah Connolly, Ava McSorley, Caeleigh Corolla and Megan Strasnick leading the charge.

The team was coached by Head Coach Terry Tobin and Assistants Dan Ferris, Paul Corolla, Kelly Sikkema and Michael Burns.
