Seide suits up for Crimson Tide this fall

MELROSE—That collective groan you may hear are the sounds of Melrose fans learning that Melrose High football sensation Isaac Seide has shipped out to Everett High School, where the senior will finish high school as a member of the Crimson Tide football team this fall.

Seide has already been seen working out with the 2017 Div. 1 Super Bowl winners, less than a year after he carried Melrose on his back to an improbable first-ever Div. 4 Super Bowl shutout victory for Melrose.

Sources tell The Melrose Weekly News that a residential move from Melrose to Everett helped facilitate the decision, but perhaps the draw of playing for a Div. 1 juggernaut—known widely as the best in the state, and Northeast—may have had something to do with the decision.

Seide, a Div. 4 Player of the Year, amassed 1,492 yards and 22 touchdowns last season during a standout junior year at Melrose High School. He leaves the Red Raiders as a prolific athlete, earning a Super Bowl ring for the Red Raiders, and both an individual state title in wrestling and team state championship in the sport from 2017-2018. 

The loss will certainly be felt for Melrose and their fans, who looked forward to watching #4 continue to dominate everyone in his path during this senior year. Last year, he earned his own fan section at Fred Green Field with children holding autograph books after games.

As a member of the Tide, he will face more sizable competition from powerhouses Xaverian, Catholic Memorial and Central Catholic, among others. While the running back is coming off an injury that prevented him from participating in MHS spring track, by August it looked like it was smooth sailing as he ran drills with the Crimson Tide during practice sessions.

According to Seide’s Twitter page, he has received an offer to play football at UNH.

Everett recently changed coaches after longtime coach John DiBiaso retired after more than 300 career wins, but later announced he was accepting a position as the head coach at rival Catholic Memorial. Everett will now be coached by Theluxon Pierre.
