WAKEFIELD — Orlando “Lindy” Costantino, 88, of Wakefield.

Lindy was very much a family man and always made family his number one priority. He left us on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren. Lindy, a husband, dad, papa, great-grandfather, friend, uncle and neighbor, was a sweet, caring, hardworking, selfless man. He always had a smile on his face and always had a story to share. He was a great “go-to” guy for directions to pretty much anywhere in New England. Lindy welcomed everyone into his family. To know him was to love him and he would be a friend for life.

A lifelong resident of Wakefield, Lindy was born February 16, 1930 as the youngest son of Diamante and Pasqualena Costantino. He attended Somerville Vocational School and graduated in 1947. Lindy served proudly in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953 and was a member of the Korean War Association. He was a printer by trade and spent his career of varying years between Rustcraft Greeting Card Company, SS Pierce Company and the Boston Globe. Throughout his life, Lindy had a love of gardening and enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with the love of his life, Mary, who he has been married to for 64 years. A fantastic handyman, he was always on call to help anyone fix anything. He loved his workshop, building countless birdhouses, toy boxes and other projects.

Lindy is the beloved husband of Mary E. (Jackson) Costantino. Loving father of Mark J. Costantino and wife Linda, of Wilmington; Rick J. Costantino, Gerard D. Costantino and wife Kerri, all of Freedom, N.H.; Gina M. Jones and husband Don, of Wakefield; and John L. Costantino and partner Judy Perry, of Brockton. Loving Papa of Jared Costantino, Adam Costantino, Lindsay (Jones) Starkey, Ashley (Jones) Gello, Kali (Jones) Brown, Nicole Costantino and Matthew Costantino. Loving great-grandfather to seven great-grandchildren. Brother of the late Eddie, Salvatore, Jerry and John Costantino, Nancy Decamillis and Margaret Melendy.
