WAKEFIELD — A 30-year-old Pitman Avenue resident was arrested for drunk driving following a hit-and-run crash on Main Street in Greenwood Friday night.

Officer Ryan Doren was dispatched to the area of 1053 Main St. at about 7 p.m. after police received a report that a green Ford F-150 had struck a parked car and continued on Main Street, turning left on Pitman Avenue. The parked car had reportedly been pushed up on the sidewalk by the impact.

Off. Doren was able to locate the suspect truck, which had heavy damage and was leaking fluids, parked in a driveway at a home on Pitman Avenue. The owner of the truck came out of the house, Doren reported, and admitted to being involved in the crash. While speaking with the owner, Doren detected a strong odor of alcohol and observed that the man’s eyes were glassy and his speech was slurred.

After conducting a series of field sobriety tests, Off. Doren arrested Stephen A. Ruiz of 15 Pitman Ave. on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage.
