MELROSE — Elizabeth M. Wass, 91, of Melrose died on Thursday April 25, 2019 at the Woodbriar Health Center in Wilmington.

She was born in Wakefield on August 12, 1927 and was the daughter of the late Ralph and Elizabeth (Gaw) Johnson.

Elizabeth was a graduate Wakefield High School. She was a longtime Melrose resident. She had been active in the Rainbow Girls and was also a volunteer for the American Red Cross.

Elizabeth was the beloved wife of the late William O. Wass. She was the loving mother of William Wass and his wife Nancy of Randolph, Deborah Karagoezian and her husband Yenovk of Framingham, Elizabeth A. Scarafone and fiancé Thomas Brennan of N.H., and Robert J. Wass and his wife Margaret of Reading. She was the sister of the late Ralph Johnson, Mildred Mueller and Priscilla Wile. Elizabeth is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Funeral to be held at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 5 Bryant St., Wakefield on Friday at 11 a.m. Interment, Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield.
