NEWBURYPORT — The LHS boys’ track and field team split their tri-meet against Newburyport and Ipswich on May 1.
The boys beat Ipswich 78-67 and fell to Newburyport 77-68.
Lynnfield had 10 first-place finishes to pace the day.
Alejandro Lynch had a fantastic day with three first place finishes. Lynch was first in the 400 (53.18) and the 400 hurdles (60.40) which were both state qualifying times. He also won the shot put with a 36’3”.
Brett Cohee added on two wins, getting state qualifying wins in the 200 (23.26) and the triple jump (42’9”).
Cam Comeau took first in the discus with a 108’8”.
Ben Kramich qualified for states with a 20’1” long jump that was good for first place.
Joe Connelly took first in the javelin with a 125’4”.
Ryan Bey also qualified for states with his 10’0” vault that also earned first place points for the Pioneers.
The 4100 relay team consisting of Senat, Sieger, Lee and Cohee took home the gold with a time of 46.14.
The Pioneers improved to 3-1 on the season and will compete again on Wednesday against Triton and North Reading.
