WAKEFIELD — Now through Friday, October 25, the Wakefield Educational Foundation (WEF) is accepting applications for their 2019-2020 grants program. Applications should be submitted via the WEF01880.org website.
WEF seeks to award $31,000, the largest amount in their 30 year history. These grants will support enrichment, environmental and innovation/technology programs. Teachers, administrators, and PTOs in the Wakefield Public Schools are encouraged to apply for projects, materials and presentations that support and enhance curriculum but fall outside this year’s school budget.
Grants must impact a group of students in the Wakefield Public Schools. The benefitting group may be as small as a single class, or as large as the total school district population. Stand-alone grant requests are encouraged. However, large-scale programs which can be divided among several funding sources will also be considered. To augment grant funds, WEF also conducts a series of annual fundraisers, such as: WEF’s Wakefield Public Schools Calendar, showcasing student art; the S.T.A.R.S. program, recognizing exemplary WPS staff; Chocolate Roses; and the Adult Spelling Bee. WEF has awarded over $375,000 to schools across the Wakefield Public Schools district since its inception 30 years ago, in 1989.
