Decorated veteran of World War II
NORTH READING — Anthony Branchini – 92, of North Reading, formerly of CT, died Sunday, February 8, 2015 at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington.
Born in New Haven, CT on June 24, 1922, he was the son of the late Frank and Augustine (Aguzzi) Branchini. Anthony proudly served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He was a Technician Fifth Grade and served from 1942 to 1945. He received two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star and many other medals. He fought in the African Middle Eastern Theater of Operations.
He worked for Sears for 40 years and was a Division Manager in Men’s Clothing. He has been a resident of North Reading for the past 51 years and was a member of St. Theresa’s Church.
He was an avid jogger and bowler and enjoyed spending time with his family and loved his country. Anthony loved being outdoors, horse racing, he was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed many sports.
Family members include his loving wife of 68 years, Adelaide (Iannuzzi) Branchini; his daughters, Joyce Capaldo and her husband Bruce of Wakefield and Karen Ash and her husband Russell of Nashua, NH; his brothers, Caesar Branchini and his wife Anna of FL and Bruce Branchini and his wife Josephine of CT; grandchildren, Christine , Michael and his wife Michelle, Brian and his wife Haley and Laura and her husband Derek; two great grandchildren, Alana and Austin.
His funeral will be held at the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading on Friday, February 13 at 10:30 a.m., relatives and friends are kindly invited. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in North Reading.
