BEVERLY — James E. Glynn, 89, passed away at the Ledgewood Nursing Home in Beverly, on Feb. 7, 2015.
James was born in Everett to the late James and Anna (Mohan) Glynn, was raised in Malden and attended Malden High School. While in high school, James joined the U.S. Navy and served his country with pride during World War II. Mr. Glynn was involved in Operation Overlord prior to the D-Day Invasion as well as the D-Day Invasion in Europe. After his return for World War II, James worked as a technician for Massachusetts Electric Company for 40 years. He lived in Melrose from 1961 -1982 before moving to Beverly.
James and his wife Jean ran Glynn Realty in Melrose during the 1970’s. James enjoyed boating, summering in Wolfeboro, N.H. on Cow Island and was a “Jack of all trades” and worked on all his homes throughout his life. Mr. Glynn was a dedicated family man who thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family, visiting his five sisters, spending time with the grandchildren and loved family gatherings, especially around the holidays.
Jim was the husband of the late Jean A. (Morehead) Glynn. He was the father of James K. Glynn and his wife Marie of Beverly; Daniel G. Glynn and his wife CuiLian Hu of Texas; Thomas M. Glynn and his late wife Maia of Melrose and the late Mary Jean Glynn. He was the grandfather of James, Matthew, Jing and Victoria. He was the brother of the late Bette Beatrice, Eleanor McDougall, Mae Schofield, Peg Markiewicz and Madeline Sousa. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St. Melrose on Wednesday, Feb. 11. James’ funeral was held at the Gately Funeral Home on Thursday, Feb. 12, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Incarnation Church, 425 Upham St., Melrose.
