MELROSE — Marynoyes Holden, 72, daughter of Dr. Robert B. Holden and Marynoyes K. Holden of Melrose, died Jan. 7, 2020 at Melrose Wakefield hospital with her family at her side. Mary had coped with serious health issues for a number of years.

Mary grew up in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School in 1965. Her yearbook caption “Seemingly quiet…surprisingly witty” catches her personality. A member of the MHS honor society, she served one summer as Community Ambassador to Mexico for the Melrose Rotary Club. She graduated in 1969 from Tufts University with a B.A. in political science.

Mary later studied at the Honeywell Institute of Information Sciences and worked as a computer programmer, living in Bedford. When she returned to live in Melrose, she volunteered at the Trinity thrift shop and attended First Methodist Church. Knitting was a favorite hobby.

Mary loved her large family. One sister, Jane Holden, predeceased her in 2012. She leaves another sister, three brothers, their spouses and offspring. Her sister Leslie Ann Holden and brother-in-law Robert Noland live in Princeton, N.J. Her three brothers and their wives are: Robert Holden and Hilary Hosmer of Bedford, Mark Holden and Melissa Sweet of Portland, Maine, and Peter Holden and Rochelle Strenger of Sharon. Her aunt, Ruth Holden Spencer of Denville, New Jersey, was very special to her. Mary also leaves nine nieces and nephews and four great-nephews and three great-nieces.

Relatives and friends will gather in honor of Marynoyes’ life during visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose, on Saturday, Jan. 25 from 9-10 a.m., followed by her funeral service at 10 a.m. Interment at Main Street Cemetery, Rowley.
