Guarino, Wood receive an honorable mention
WAKEFIELD —The Middlesex League girls’ hockey coaches met recently to make this year’s all-star selections in both the Freedom and Liberty divisions.
The Wakefield Memorial High girls’ hockey team had one player named to the Freedom division all-league team. Junior forward Julianne Bourque was the lone Warrior chosen.
Receiving an honorable mention in the Freedom division were senior forward Meghan Guarino and senior goalie Miriam Wood.
Freedom division champion Watertown/Belmont had four all-stars named and one of the league’s co-MVPs. Next was Burlington with three all-stars and one of the two co-MVPs.
Wakefield, Stoneham and Melrose each had one all-star named to the 10-player all-league team.
In the Liberty division, league and state champion Reading had for all-stars and the league’s MVP.
Winchester had two all-stars, while Lexington, Arlington and Woburn each had one all-star honored among the nine-player all-league team.
