LYNNFIELD — The girls’ soccer team went undefeated last week.
The Pioneers (2-0-1) began last week defeating Rockport 5-0 on Sept. 15.
Senior defender Abby Adamo scored Lynnfield’s first goal off a header 6:25 into the first half. Senior captain Adri Parisi had the assist.
“It was a great goal,” said Pioneers head coach Mark Vermont. “Adri had a nice cross and Abby headed it in.”
Freshman forward Bella Carroll scored her first varsity goal after she received a pass from sophomore forward Keely Briggs 20:45 into the first half.
Carroll scored her second goal at the 22:18 mark of the first half. Senior midfielder Anna Radulski had the assist.
“It was really cool Bella scored her first two varsity goals,” said Vermont.
Parisi scored Lynnfield’s fourth goal off a rebound at 23:02 of the first half.
Freshman midfielder Emma Rose scored her first varsity goal with three minutes remaining in the first half. Freshman midfielder Clara Caulfield was credited with the assist.
Senior captain Samantha Bunar tallied three saves in net during the first half. Ava Gamache recorded three saves in net during the second half.
Vermont said Briggs played very well against the Vikings.
“Keely worked her tail off,” said Vermont. “She is a hard working player who is very skilled.”
Vermont said the Pioneers “did a good job moving the ball” against Rockport.
“We were able to score four goals off of crosses, which is what we have been trying to work on,” said Vermont. “The girls have been working very hard on executing.”
Defeats Essex Tech
The Pioneers kept rolling and defeated Essex Tech 3-0 on Sept. 18.
Parisi scored Lynnfield’s first goal 1:54 into the first half. Sophomore Ally Sykes had the assist.
Lynnfield had a 1-0 lead at halftime.
Parisi buried her second goal of the contest two minutes into the second half. Radulski was credited with the assist after she completed a corner kick.
Sykes scored the Pioneers’ final goal 10 minutes into the second half. Radulski had the assist.
Bunar tallied two saves in net during the first. Gamache had two saves between the pipes during the second half.
Vermont commended Parisi and Radulski “played really strong games” against Essex Tech.
“Anna played very well in the midfield and Adri did a nice job at forward,” said Vermont. “They are both very skilled and don’t back down from challenges. They get in there and win the 50-50 ball battles.”
Upcoming games
The Pioneers faced Hamilton-Wenham on Monday, taking place after deadline. Lynnfield travels to Newburyport on Wednesday, Sept. 22, beginning at 3:45 p.m. The Pioneers host Danvers on Saturday, Sept. 25, beginning at 10 a.m.
