A family oriented man, an avid golfer and travel enthusiast
SWAMPSCOTT — Daniel Joseph Nolan, age 74, of Swampscott and formerly of Melrose, Lynnfield and Marblehead, died peacefully at his residence on Friday, September 17, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Janet W. (Meehan) Nolan with whom he shared over 52 years of marriage. Born in Malden in 1947, he was the son of the late Walter James and Mary Hester (Moylan) Nolan. He was raised and educated in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School in 1964. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Boston College in 1968 and his Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University Law School in 1974. Danny practiced law for a short time before joining Meehan and Nolan Associates, which he ran until his retirement in 2017. He cherished travel with the love of his life, Janie. He was an avid golfer, and longtime member of Tedesco Country Club. His greatest joy was the time spent with friends and family, especially his three grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Janet, Dan is survived by his loving children, Daniel James Nolan and his longtime significant other, Derry Foster, of Northbridge and Jaime René (Nolan) Cohane of Marblehead; his beloved grandchildren, Nolan Kain Cohane, Maeve René Cohane and Quinn Kelly Cohane; his brother Peter Nolan and his wife, Phyllis, of West Newbury; his sisters, Nancy Dluehosh and her husband, Paul, of Leesburg, VA; Gerrie Elberfeld and her husband, Larry, of Indianapolis, IN; Maryann Nolan and her significant other, Robert Connelly, of Revere and Sheila Bingham and her husband, Jeff, of Melrose; his sisters-in-law, Nancy Meehan of Salisbury and Barbara Courtney of Newburyport and his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 from the Solimine Funeral Home, 67 Ocean St. (Rt. 1A), Lynn at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Marblehead at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Swampscott Cemetery, Swampscott. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
