LYNNFIELD – Jack J. Holder, Jr., 80, of Lynnfield, passed away October 12, at the Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, MA, in the presence of his family, after a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Linda (Ramos) Holder.
Jack was born in Waynesville, NC, son of the late Jack J. Holder and Leora (Wright) Holder. He was raised and educated in Waynesville, before going on to attend Indiana University on a football scholarship. Jack excelled on the football field earning the “Most Outstanding Lineman” award in 1961. One year later, he earned “The Iron Man” distinction as having more playing time than any other Hoosier player in 1962. Jack continued his education earning his MBA in 1965 and then earning EdD in 1967 with a double major in Higher Education and Business Administration.
Jack had a lengthy and distinguished career starting as a university professor at Ohio University. Then, he ventured into the private industry working as a C-level executive for various companies including Yellow Freight, PIE, Hanjin, Smith’s Transfer, Waste Management, and other medical environmental companies. His passion for academia took him to various parts of the world including Singapore, Senegal, Paris, Munich, and Vienna before returning to the U.S. with Linda in 2004. He founded and was President of Redloh International, performing management and mergers and acquisitions consultancy until he could no longer do it because of the limitations of his illness. He authored five books and more than 25 articles in professional journals.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was an active parishioner at various Catholic parishes, teaching religious education, and volunteering around the church. Two of his favorite hobbies were wine making and growing fruits and vegetables.
Besides his loving wife, Linda, he is survived by his children, Jennifer Snedden and her husband, Rob, of OH; John Holder and his wife, June, of TX; Kristy Maslan of CO; Serena Akins and her husband, Cedric, of TX; Deanne Holder Cicerchia and husband, Vincent, of MA; his 14 grandchildren, DJ, Katrina, Natasha, Dylan, Benjamin, Avery, Cate, Skylar, Joshua, Delvin, Tiara, CJ, Angelina, and Audrey; his two great grandchildren, Justin and Jada. His siblings are Patsy Mills of NC, William Holder of TX, Nancy Pryor of NC, and the late Michael Holder of SC.
His funeral Mass will be on Saturday, November 13, at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Lynnfield at 12 p.m. Burial of his remains will take place later in Hawaiian Memorial Park, Oahu, Hawaii.
