NORTH READING – North Reading Hornet Productions Middle School Art Students Welcomed Kelly Dempsey, “Project Runway” Season 14 Runner-Up
Friends of Hornet Productions at North Reading Middle School recently held a special “Project Fashion” unconventional materials class with Kelly Dempsey, a popular designer known for her outstanding challenge-winning unconventional garments.
21 middle school students spent the afternoon embellishing skirts with “unconventional materials” such as sponges, string mops and feathers, to name a few items used. They embraced their creativity and the results were colorful and unique. “We were honored to host Kelly Dempsey, an incredibly talented designer, who inspired our students to create some amazing fashions,” noted Friends of Hornet Productions’ Enrichment Coordinator Amy Barry.
Boston resident Kelly Dempsey appeared on Lifetime TV’s “Project Runway” in 2015. She won 4 challenges and ultimately finished runner-up for the season. She is now growing her brand Rack Addik and continues to design dramatic looks.
