WAKEFIELD — The Albion Cultural Exchange is pleased to announce and say thanks for a $1,500 donation from The Savings Bank in Wakefield.
The funds are earmarked for a new refrigerator and freezer for the ACE center located at 9 Albion St. in downtown Wakefield.
“We are excited to be able to have cold drinks, ice and even ice cream on hand for our upcoming events” said Chris J. Carino chairman of the Albion Cultural Exchange Committee.
“We have been largely operating out of coolers and this will be a big improvement” said Kathy Frey, a committee member who is overseeing the procurement for the ACE Center.
The Albion Cultural Exchange launches the second season of First Thursday Downtown events with a screening of the new documentary “Food Fight” on March 2. It will also be the official kick off of “Local Eats” week which will run from March 2 through March 12.
First Thursday Downtown is a monthly program which features different events each month in the main gallery of the Albion Cultural Exchange. The events include both viewing opportunities as well as interactive opportunities engaging local residents and visitors with conversation, culture and camaraderie.
“We are excited to partner with the ACE Center to provide equipment in support of First Thursdays Downtown and other new programs based out of ACE” said Bob DiBella, president and CEO of the Savings Bank.
“The Albion Cultural Exchange is a key attraction enhancing the downtown as a community destination” said Raichelle L. Kallery, senior vice president of Retail Banking at the Savings Bank.
The Albion Cultural Exchange is located in the heart of downtown Wakefield at 9 Albion Street. The main floor gallery is open for various art and cultural events. The exchange offers live music, art education and open studio gallery events.
