USAF veteran worked for Mitre Corporation

 

WAKEFIELD — Alexander C. “Al” Romano, 84, a 60-year resident of Wakefield, passed away on Jan. 20.

He was the husband of the late Evelyn Alice (Leary) Romano.

Born in Cambridge and raised in Somerville, he was the son of the late Diego and Vincenza Romano.

He was a veteran, serving with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Prior to his retirement, Al was employed with Mitre Corporation for 37 years.

He enjoyed traveling worldwide, spending winters in Florida and gardening. He loved attending his grandchildren’s events. He liked to make people laugh and greeted everyone with a warm smile.

He was the father of Sandra (Romano) Adams and her husband Brent of Concord, N.H. and Robert Romano and his wife Pamela (Hosaka) of Wakefield. He is also survived by his sister Ann Solomon of Spring Hill, Fla.; his brother Albert Romano of Scottsdale, Ariz.; his grandchildren Brin Cowette, Shela Adams, Kannon Romano and Mia Romano; his lifelong friend Helen McNall of Wakefield; a close friend Jean Agneta and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield.

Visitation is Thursday, 4 to 7 p.m.
