WAKEFIELD — Alfred J. Roberto, 91, a lifelong Wakefield resident died on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014 at the Massachusetts General Hospital.

Born in Wakefield on March 24, 1923, he was the son of the late Carmine A. and Maria Rose (Naccarella) Roberto.

Mr. Roberto was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1940. He was a member of St. Florence Parish in Wakefield, Wakefield Lodge #1276, Crystal Community Club of Wakefield, Malden Moose Lodge, A.A. DeFranzo VFW Post in Saugus, Disabled Americans Veterans Reading Chapter and The Fleet Reserves Organization.

Mr. Roberto served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II as a Gunnery Sergeant. He was also a veteran of the Korean Conflict and served during the Vietnam era.

He was the husband of Lillian C. (Puleo) Roberto and the late Wava Marjorie (Lee) Roberto. He is survived by his four sons Carmine Roberto of Montgomery, Ala.; William P. Roberto of Jefferson; Alfred J. Roberto Jr. of Charleston, S.C. and John G. Roberto of Wakefield; his four daughters Rose Marie Trombettas of Montgomery, Ala.; Annette Lomas of Reading; Geri A. Brown of Athens, Tenn., and Donna L. MacDonald of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and his sister Florence McKenna of Wakefield. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Roberto was predeceased by his three brothers Archangelo Roberto, Nicholas Roberto and Armando Roberto and his three sisters; Yolanda Ballou, Rosina Mahoney and Mary Milliken.

Arrangements were in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home.
